Brinsley Headstocks mining landmark to be reconstructed after public outcry



Broxtowe council votes to build new oak headstocks after dismantling of original structure prompted protestsCouncillors in Broxtowe have unanimously voted to replace Brinsley Headstocks in their original form, after the structure was dismantled last year due to safety concerns prompting backlash from residents.The headstocks, the last remaining structure of their kind in England, were used to transport men and coal up and down mines in the area from 1872 until the last colliery closed in 1970.
