US stocks fall again after rally following Trump’s shock retreat on tariffs

Japan’s Nikkei has now tumbled more than 5% while gold hit another record high as continuing tariff jitters hit Asian stocks in early trade today.

The Nikkei 225 benchmark index was off 5.4%, having soared 9.1% on Thursday after Donald Trump paused many tariffs for 90 days. Other markets also handed back many of their gains of the previous day, Agence France-Presse reports, with the Kospi in Seoul off 1.64%.
